{"product_id":"p6716","title":"Shino Small Bowl, Set of Two","description":"These are two new Shino-style small bowls, fresh from the kiln, created by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds his life's joy in crafting works and firing his kilns.\u003cbr\u003e\nThese pieces were taken from the kiln around July 2022. They are unique works made by applying Shino glaze to Bizen clay and firing them in a Bizen wood-fired climbing kiln.\u003cbr\u003e\nWhile the base follows the traditions of Shino ware, the overlapping effects of the wood-firing process result in a new series that offers infinite variations to enjoy.\u003cbr\u003e\nThis is a highly unconventional piece: instead of using *bengara* (iron oxide) to achieve the madder red color characteristic of Shino ware, the artist varied the thickness of the feldspar glaze to allow the dark brownish hues of the Bizen clay to shine through, thereby expressing the madder red.\u003cbr\u003e\nNatural ash glaze from the climbing kiln layers over the feldspar glaze like a painting, creating a distinctive finish that looks as if white and gold pigments were dripped onto the clean white of the feldspar glaze.\u003cbr\u003e\nWith a diameter of just over 11cm, these small bowls are a convenient size, and their white, Shino-inspired base makes them easy to pair with any dish.\n\nNo box included\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter approx. 10.7cm x 10.6cm, height 4.3cm\n\nTakashi Baba was born in 1983 as the eldest son of Bizen ceramic artist Shosuke Baba.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThinking he would become a ceramic artist from a young age, he chose to major in sculpture during university to broaden his perspective on pottery.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nHe graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts with a degree in sculpture in 2006, then went on to refine his skills at the Kyoto Municipal Institute of Industrial Technology and Culture.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nHe became independent in 2007 and held his first solo exhibition.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nHe is currently active, focusing on solo exhibitions at department stores.","brand":"馬場隆志","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46618061209697,"sku":"6716","price":6600.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9916\/8865\/files\/6716.jpg?v=1790231774","url":"https:\/\/tourakuen.myshopify.com\/en\/products\/p6716","provider":"川口陶楽苑","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
