p6930
Bizen-yaki spouted sake cup
This is a newly kiln-fired Bizen katakuchi sake cup (guinomi) by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who creates deeply expressive works in the lineage of the master sake ware potters Rokuro Nakamura and Shin Nakamura.
While following in the footsteps of these masters, this sake cup is distinctively Kazuki’s, infusing his own unique flair into a style that sets it apart from his father and grandfather.

Fresh from the kiln in April 2023, the gentle, rhythmic rise of the form—achieved through wheel-throwing techniques inherited from his grandfather—exudes an exquisite charm.

Enveloped in a "kase-goma" (dry sesame ash) glaze resembling tree bark, the front reveals a beautiful scarlet hue, as if opening a kimono.

The rich scarlet clay base, a closely guarded secret of the Nakamura family, is remarkably beautiful.
