{"product_id":"p6980","title":"Ao-Shino Tea Cup","description":"This is a new Blue Shino teacup by Takashi Baba, who was born in Imbe and has loved Bizen ware since childhood, finding his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns.\u003cbr\u003e\nThis piece was taken from the kiln around April 2023, and it is a unique work that expresses blue not through the use of colored glaze, but through translucency.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nAlthough Baba has regularly created Blue Shino using cobalt in the past, this work is quite unusual: he uses what is known as \"Black Bizen\"—a slip mixed with cobalt to create a black base—and then applies a feldspar glaze over it to reveal an Asagi (pale blue-green) color.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe feldspar glaze has been poured over the piece multiple times, creating dynamic movement in the glaze texture and interesting color layering due to variations in thickness.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nLike his other works, this was fired in Baba's climbing kiln.
