p7043
Hidasuki mug
This new Hidasuki mug is the work of Yoshiteru Koriki, an artist who pursues his own creative vision without pretension, despite having studied under the masters Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.
This is a brand-new piece, fresh from the kiln in June 2023.

Like those of Sozan Kaneshige, this piece was fired in a custom electric kiln capable of supplementary wood firing, requiring as much, if not more, time and effort as a traditional climbing kiln.

The moist, gentle texture of the mugosa-colored clay surface demonstrates how thoroughly he has inherited the techniques of his mentors.

Furthermore, the surface is densely speckled with black mineral particles from the clay; when held up to the light, the sheer quantity of these grains creates a shimmering effect, adding a profound, washi-paper-like presence to the piece.

While the mug has a wide base and a relaxed, spacious overall form, the rim and handle are crafted to be thin, making it easy to use.

No box
Diameter 11.8cm x 8.7cm x Height 6.9cm

*Please note that a shipping fee of 500 yen applies.

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he spent seven years from 1989 studying ceramics under Sozan and Yuho Kaneshige.

In 1996, he built a climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, and became independent, firing his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held solo exhibitions every year since.

In 2002, he was selected for the Tea Ceremony Molding Exhibition for the first time.
