p7085
Hidasuki small bowl
This is a brand new *hidasuki* (fire-cord) small bowl, fresh from the kiln by Yoshiteru Kōriki, an artist who pursues his own creative vision without pretension, while having studied under the masters Sozan Kaneshige and Yūhō Kaneshige.
This is a latest work, fired in May 2022.

Fired in a custom electric kiln capable of wood-firing, the piece is fired over a duration comparable to an *anagama* (climbing kiln). The moist texture and the rich, deep *hidasuki* coloration that seems to soak into the very core of the clay testify to his firm mastery of his mentors' techniques.

The center of the interior features a planar expression created by circular *hidasuki* overlapping the wheel marks, while the exterior allows one to enjoy the *hidasuki* lines running freely in every direction.

After being thinly thrown on the wheel, the piece was hand-shaped into a *kagami-mochi*-like compressed form. The elegance of the thin walls combined with the subtle distortions from the hand-shaping create a delightfully rustic, aesthetic charm.

This small bowl is about two sizes larger than a sake cup, making it a convenient size for a variety of uses.

No box included
Diameter 9.7cm x 9.5cm x Height 5.5cm

*Please note that a shipping fee of 500 yen will be charged.

Yoshiteru Kōriki was born in Akō City, Hyōgo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he studied ceramics for seven years starting in 1989 under Sozan Kaneshige and Yūhō Kaneshige.

In 1996, he built a climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, to become an independent artist, and fired his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held solo exhibitions every year since.

In 2002, he was selected for the Chanoyu Zokei-ten (Tea Ceremony Form Exhibition) for the first time.
