p7114
Bizen Hidashuda Sake Cup
This is a newly fired Bizen *hikidashi* (pulled) sake cup by Yoshiteru Takariki, who continues to pursue his own artistic vision without pretense while having studied under the masters Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.
This is his latest work, just removed from the kiln in October 2023.

While this is a *hikidashi* sake cup unlike any previous Bizen work by Takariki, it has evolved into a unique landscape with the addition of black sesame glaze by being placed in front of the fire (*hizama*).

Placed in the area of the kiln with the most intense heat, it was pulled from the kiln during the firing process, leaving the entire piece generously coated with natural ash glaze that looks like amber.

The colors subtly vary, such as the stronger metallic sheen around the foot, making one appreciate anew the mystery of the *hikidashi* black finish and the way it plays with light.

The inside of the cup is also generously coated in amber-colored natural glaze, creating exquisite shading along the pronounced wheel marks.

The orthodox form typical of Takariki makes it approachable, resulting in a sake cup that is highly practical despite its dramatic appearance.

Signed wooden box to be provided later (please note that it will take some time before shipment.)
Diameter 6.6cm x 6.5cm x Height 5.9cm

Yoshiteru Takariki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he studied ceramic art for seven years starting in 1989 under masters Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

He built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 and held his first firing the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since.

In 2002, his work was selected for the Tea Ceremony Molding Exhibition for the first time.
