p7120
Hidasuki triangular small bowl
This is a triangular "hidasuki" (fire-cord) small bowl by Yoshiteru Kouriki, an artist who pursues his own creative vision without pretense, despite having studied under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.
Fired in September 2021, the bowl features a refreshing and clean hidasuki pattern that makes it perfect for tableware.

It was fired in a custom electric kiln capable of wood-firing techniques, requiring the same amount of time as an anagama climbing kiln. The moist texture and the rich, deep-seated coloration of the hidasuki are a testament to the techniques he has faithfully inherited from his mentors.

On the inside, you can enjoy a surface expression created by circular arrangements of hidasuki, while the exterior features lines that run freely across the surface.

The overall amount of hidasuki is somewhat restrained this time, and the subtle application of the fire-cord gives it a wonderfully "wabi" (refined, rustic) aesthetic.

This small bowl is the perfect size for serving individual portions, making it versatile enough for appetizers, side dishes, and more.

No box included
Diameter 12.6cm x 12.5cm x Height 4.6cm

*Please note that a shipping fee of 500 yen applies.

Yoshiteru Kouriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he spent seven years from 1989 studying ceramics under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

In 1996, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, and fired his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held solo exhibitions every year since.

In 2002, his work was selected for the Tea Ceremony Molding Exhibition for the first time.
