p7171
Bizen Pottery Sake Pourer
This is a brand new Bizen sake pitcher, fresh from the kiln, by Yoshiteru Koriki, an artist who pursues his own creative vision without pretense while having studied under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.
This is his latest work, just removed from the kiln in October 2023.

Among Koriki's works, which boast a rich variety of appearances and clay qualities, this piece is a popular type of *katakuchi* (spouted) sake pitcher that combines a persimmon-orange clay texture with rustic, matte *kase-goma* (ash glaze).

The soft, lightly fired clay absorbs moisture quickly when used, allowing you to enjoy how it changes to the color of a lush, ripe fruit.

Almost the entire exterior of the piece is covered in a beautiful, deep-green *kase-goma*, giving it a plant-like texture that justifies its nickname, *enoki-hada* (hackberry skin).

Though quite large—about the size of a large beer mug—the clay is concentrated around the foot to lower the center of gravity, while the rim is tapered and thin for ease of use.

No box included
Diameter 10.2cm × 8.4cm × Height 13.7cm

*Please note that a shipping fee of 500 yen applies.

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he studied ceramics for seven years starting in 1989 under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

In 1996, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, and fired his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has continued to hold solo exhibitions every year since.

In 2002, his work was selected for the Tea Ceremony Molding Exhibition for the first time.
