p7296
Hidasuki small bowl
This Hidasuki small bowl is by Yoshiteru Koriki, an artist who pursues his own creative path with ease while having studied under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.
Using a custom electric kiln capable of wood-firing, it is fired over a duration comparable to that of an anagama climbing kiln. The moist texture of the surface and the deep, rich Hidasuki (fire-cord) coloration that seems to soak into the very core of the clay testify to his mastery of the techniques inherited from his mentors.

The interior features a circular Hidasuki design layered over the throwing rings, while the exterior offers a dynamic display of Hidasuki lines racing across the surface.

After being thrown thinly on the wheel, the piece was hand-shaped into a "kagami-mochi" style pinched form; the elegance of the thin walls combined with the subtle distortions of hand-working result in a delightfully weathered, artisanal shape.

Slightly larger than a sake cup, this is a versatile small bowl perfect for a variety of uses.

No box included
Diameter 9.7cm x 9.6cm x Height 5.6cm

*Shipping fee is 500 yen.

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he studied ceramics for seven years starting in 1989 under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

In 1996, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, and fired his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has continued to hold solo exhibitions annually since.

In 2002, his work was selected for the Chanoyu Zokei-ten (Tea Ceremony Ceramics Exhibition) for the first time.
