p7819
Bizen Hidasuki Sake Cup
This is a newly kiln-fired Bizen Hidasuki sake cup by Yoshiteru Koriki, who pursues his own creative path without pretense, despite having studied under the masters Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

This piece was fired in September 2025.

It is a deeply flavorful sake cup, fired slowly in a climbing kiln inside a sagger to seal it off and prevent any natural ash glaze from adhering to the surface.

A departure from the conventional combination of *mogusa* clay and Hidasuki fired in an electric kiln, this piece features a base with a translucent white quality, while some areas take on a unique texture that seems to reveal the underlying clay components. In contrast to the elegant and vibrant *mogusa* Hidasuki, it possesses a rugged, understated aesthetic.

The Hidasuki markings on this piece are intense yet finely traced, serving as a landscape that accentuates the unique texture mentioned above.

The body, which retains the powerful marks of the potter's wheel, widens slightly at the midsection, imbuing the work with a relaxed, flowing rhythm reminiscent of his mentor, Sozan Kaneshige.

Signed wooden box to be provided later (please note that it will take some time before the item is shipped).
Diameter 6.8cm × 6.7cm × Height 5.9cm

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he spent seven years from 1989 studying ceramics under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

In 1996, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, and fired his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000, and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since.

In 2002, his work was selected for the Tea Ceremony Art Exhibition for the first time.
