p8158
Blue Olive Sake Cup
This is a new Blue Oribe sake cup (guinomi) by Sohei Takashima, who made a
brilliant debut after graduating from the studio of Jun Isezaki and receiving the Japan Ceramic Association Contemporary Ceramic Encouragement Award.

Having studied under Jun Isezaki, the fifth Living National Treasure of Bizen ware,
Takashima established his own studio in Ushimado, Setouchi, and creates Oribe-style sake cups.

Among the many types of Bizen clay, he uses a white-specialized clay body
that combines white clay, which is rarely used in Bizen ware, with
San-ishi slate.

The piece is glazed with an Oribe glaze that Takashima carefully developed and blended to complement the white clay,
resulting in a magnificent glaze finish that demonstrates the artist's exceptional skill and research.

Furthermore, the white clay itself has a very coarse texture,
which adds depth and delicate gradations to the Oribe glaze inside the cup, creating a stunning effect.
Original box to be sent later (we apologize, but it will take some time before shipping).
Diameter 6.8cm x 6.7cm x Height 4.9cm
Sohei Takashima was born in Kushiro, Hokkaido, in 1991.

He graduated from the Department of Design at Doto University in 2014 and immediately became an apprentice to Jun Isezaki.

He currently operates his own studio in Ushimado, Setouchi, Okayama Prefecture.

He has received the Encouragement Award at the Okayama Prefecture Art Exhibition, was selected for the "Form of Chanoyu Exhibition" at the Tabu Museum, received the Encouragement Award at the Toubi Exhibition, was selected for the Contemporary Tea Ceramics Exhibition, and received the Japan Ceramic Association Contemporary Ceramic Encouragement Award.
