Koichiro Isezaki: Black Single-Flower Vase

Hello everyone. June is here and we are having many rainy days; how are you all doing? The rice paddies in the neighborhood have been filled with water, and the rice planting season is finally upon us. It is truly beautiful to see the rice plants, which have grown up healthy and strong, rustling and swaying in the summer breeze. Just watching them makes one feel a sense of coolness. Today, in keeping with the theme of coolness, I would like to introduce a cool, black single-flower vase. While Bizen ware often features colors that evoke a sense of "warmth," this black single-flower vase by Koichiro-sensei is a piece with a very cool aesthetic, featuring tones of black and blue. The form is a standard turnip shape (kabu-gata), but the thin, right-angled flared mouth serves as an accent. Many single-flower vases feel like they possess an inward, concentrated energy, but this one projects an open, outward-facing energy. It is quite fascinating, as if the mouth itself were a new sprout breathing from the turnip. size: Rim 5.3cm x Opening diameter 1.8cm x Body diameter 10.8cm x Body diameter 10.7cm x Height 14.2cm price: SOLD OUT
