Hello everyone, how are you doing?
In our previous article, we featured the works of Masashiro Aika, which were extremely well-received.
Today, I would like to introduce a water jar (mizusashi) that is packed with the very best of Mr. Aika’s artistry.
This water jar surpasses his previous works with its thick, brilliant yellow "goma" (sesame glaze),
featuring a stunning firing that has added even greater depth and achieved a rich, dark brown color.
I have never seen "goma" of this quality in Mr. Aika’s work before;
it is a masterpiece that required over a year of production to fire.
The other elements also showcase the characteristic scenery unique to Mr. Aika’s work,
with a texture like aged wine, achieved through meticulous attention to detail to ensure the delicate gradations were not lost amidst the heavy firing.
There is an amber-colored shading at the border between the thick sesame glaze and the clay surface.
And, of course, the intense, frost-like "sangiri" (firewood ash marking) that symbolizes Aika-Bizen.
Every inch of this piece exudes a powerful, surging energy.
In our update tonight at 8:00 PM, I will introduce the Ibe tea bowl I mentioned previously.
Please be sure to check it out.

The triple harmony of thick yellow sesame glaze, an aged wine-like skin, and frost-like sangiri is truly magnificent.

The reverse side is also fired with a stunning composition.

The amber shading at the border of the sesame and the clay adds wonderful depth.

The craftsmanship is extraordinary; looking into the yahazu-guchi (arrow-notch rim), one can truly feel the spirit of the artist.
