Mukozuke by Mashiro Aiga

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

I would like to share a wonderful photo I recently received from a customer.

They served a yukke-style marinated bigfin reef squid, which they caught themselves,

in a mukozuke dish by Mashiro Aiga that they purchased from us previously.

Hearing that they use our pieces daily brings me great joy.

This piece is characteristic of the artist, featuring a dense, well-fired clay body layered with meticulous yellow sesame-like ash glaze.

Mr. Aiga fires his kiln once or twice a month, and he works with a rigorous ceramic style that could arguably be called the strictest in Bizen,

releasing only those pieces carefully selected after months of repeated firings.

Because he judges his own work with such a critical eye, the standard of the selected pieces is exceptionally high,

and while his yield rate is by no means high, he pursues his craft with unwavering commitment.

We expect to receive Mr. Aiga's new works between October and November, and I look forward to introducing them to you as they arrive.
