秋谷昌央先生の新作茶器セットのご紹介

Introducing Masao Akiya's new tea set collection

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

The days are getting colder, making it the perfect season for firing Bizen ware kilns.

We are currently in the midst of unloading kilns, and wonderful new works will be appearing from now until spring.

This time, from the new works of Masao Akitani, who has just finished his first kiln unloading in about two years,

I would like to introduce a lovely teapot and teacup set.

These pieces feature an excellent design that balances Mr. Akitani's signature modern aesthetic, which fits seamlessly into contemporary life, with the simple usability of a vessel.

They are created with the concept of being ready to use the moment you purchase them, blending naturally into your everyday life.

Furthermore, the modern style, refined in every detail, is a joy to behold,

making your time with important guests even more pleasant and elegant.

The teacups themselves are slightly small, and the teapot has a capacity perfect for two cups.

Bizen ware has excellent heat retention, so warming the vessel with hot water before use helps keep the contents warm longer.

Both the teapot and teacups are covered in 'goma' (sesame glaze), and the warm, distinctively Bizen aesthetic is perfect for the cold season.

Mr. Akitani's high level of skill and characteristic perseverance are well utilized here.

The meticulous attention to detail, such as the lip and the lid knob, is truly superb.

The handle was also designed by Mr. Akitani, and was apparently hand-hammered after cutting the brass.

The faintly remaining hammer marks resemble metal engraving and are very stylish.

These teacups are slightly small but boast an elegant size.

The rims have been carefully thrown on the potter's wheel, making them easy to drink from.

They hold heat well, and while the temperature of the vessel allows you to feel the warmth of the contents,

above all, the beauty of the 'goma' and 'hi-dasuki' (fire-cord) markings makes using these vessels a true pleasure.
