Hello everyone, how are you doing?

The typhoon has passed and the chorus of cicadas has begun, signaling that summer is now in full swing.

Even in this hot weather, many Bizen ware artists have kiln openings scheduled, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for those who continue their grueling work at the kilns to their absolute limits.

Now, today I would like to announce the exhibition "Unconventional: Momoyama Bizen," which is scheduled to be held at the Okayama Prefectural Museum starting September 18, 2015.

This exhibition will bring together masterpieces of Momoyama-period antique Bizen from the museum’s own collection, as well as numerous other exceptional pieces gathered through the cooperation of potters and tea masters who reached out to various contacts.

It promises to be a truly rare and spectacular exhibition of antique Bizen ware related to the tea ceremony produced during the Azuchi-Momoyama period.

You will be able to fully enjoy the charm of Momoyama antique Bizen, which can be described as "unconventional" (hakaku).

Furthermore, during the exhibition period, there is a packed schedule of wonderful events, including a talk show by the youth division of the Toyukai pottery association, who have challenged themselves to create replicas of famous bowls.

We hope you will all come and visit.
