The kiln opening for Kosuke Kaneshige took place.

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

Today, I would like to introduce the new sake vessels from Kosuke Kaneshige, which were taken out of the kiln for the first time in about two years.

Regarding the works by Junpei Kaneshige from this spring, which was the firing immediately preceding this one,

they were very highly acclaimed by pottery enthusiasts as a great success, centered around a remarkably clear scarlet color.

This firing also carries on those characteristics of deep hues and intense firing,

with a brilliantly vibrant scarlet that glows like a light combined with black-silver kiln transformation (yohen).

It is quite fascinating that the Kagato Kiln, which has been in operation for over 30 years, continues to evolve in real time.

Since the kiln itself is also made of earth, much like the pieces it creates,

one might view it as a piece of pottery that has been continuously fired for 30 years.

We have received a number of these gem-like yohen sake vessels, so

if you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact our shop.

Below this article, I have posted rough photos of Kosuke Kaneshige's new works and a recommended new yohen sake cup,

as well as a recommended sake cup from the new works by Junpei Kaneshige, which were fired in small numbers at the same time.

A very vivid and intense scarlet color can be seen on both the sake bottles and the cups.

It is a scarlet that shines brilliantly, but it transforms into an even more magnificent hue when moistened with sake.

The yohen on the front, which shines brilliantly, is stunning, but wonderful scarlet colors also appear on the contact surfaces with the adjacent pieces in the kiln.

In addition to the scarlet on the base, the interior displays a deep reddish-purple clay texture, making this a masterpiece truly filled with scarlet.

The ash glaze, which has come out in a mouse-gray color, is extremely pleasant to the touch due to careful finishing, making this a sake cup that seems to condense the best of Kaneshige Bizen.

This is a "kase-yohen" (matte/crusty kiln-changed) sake cup from the new works by Junpei Kaneshige, a few of which were included in the same kiln.

Kase-yohen is often used for large, high-status works such as water jars and flower vases,

so it is rare to see such a significant amount of ash coverage on a small piece like a sake cup, even in a single firing.
