Mitsuru Isezaki, who for many years remained at the forefront of Bizen ware and left behind significant achievements, passed away on August 28th at a hospital in Bizen City due to respiratory failure.
We offer our sincere condolences and pray for the repose of his soul.
The funeral will be held on August 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Hachi Funeral Memorial Hall, located at 1296-8 Ibe, Bizen City.
The chief mourner is his third son, So Isezaki.
Mitsuru Isezaki studied under his father, Yozan Isezaki, and entered the path of pottery after leaving the special art course at the Okayama University Faculty of Education.
As a member of the post-war generation, he was active at the forefront of the Bizen pottery world and mentored many artists.
His distinguished works radiated a flawless brilliance in their clay, firing, and craftsmanship.
With his gentle personality, he was held in immense trust by many artists and pottery enthusiasts alike.
Knowing his vibrant spirit from when I visited his thatched-roof home, I find this truly hard to believe.
The sudden passing of this great ceramic artist is a source of profound sadness.
We offer our deepest condolences.
