Hello everyone, how are you doing? We are feeling the intersection of spring and winter, with cold days following warm ones. This is a time of year when it is very easy to catch a cold, so please take good care of your health. Today, I would like to introduce a rare piece. It is a tea bowl by Yuho Kaneshige, but surprisingly, it was fired at the Maruyama Kiln. Since I strongly associate Yuho-sensei with his Ushigamishita studio in Ibe, I found it quite interesting when I first saw it. The box is clearly inscribed with "Maruyama Kiln," so it is believed to be a work from his younger days. While I do love the unique texture of the clay from Yuho-sensei’s current mountain soil and his own kiln, the rich, viscous texture of the clay, characteristic of the Kaneshige school as seen in this piece, is truly wonderful. The mellow, sweet brown clay texture goes perfectly with the slightly scorched, understated yellow sesame glaze. The fire-cord (hi-dasuki) inside and the surrounding clay tones are also subtle in color; it is not flashy, but it has an exquisite quality that is calm and speaks directly to the heart. size: diameter 11.3cm x 11.1cm x height 8.2cm price: 77,000 yen For inquiries regarding this piece, please contact us at the number below.
