Hello everyone. Today, I would like to introduce the exhibition currently being held at the Kitchoan Museum of Art in Kamakura:
Rosanjin Kitaoji and Toyo Kaneshige: The World of Bizen Ware
As you are all likely aware, Rosanjin Kitaoji was an individual who left behind significant achievements in a variety of fields, not just modern ceramics.
Toyo Kaneshige was the one who built the foundation of modern Bizen ware and brilliantly revived the craft during a time of great hardship.
This is a magnificent exhibition that explores the profound charm of Bizen ware from the perspective of the relationship between these two men who left behind such great legacies.
The encounter with Rosanjin was a major turning point in the career of Toyo Kaneshige.
We often call great people "giant stars," and this meeting must have had the impact of a collision between planets.
They changed their ceramic seals, relocated kilns, and challenged each other to master their respective specialties, pushing their skills to new heights.
It is no exaggeration to say that this encounter was a pivotal moment in the history of modern ceramics.
