The Oribe beer mugs that we commissioned this spring have now been fired and are ready.
They were originally scheduled to be taken out of the kiln in the summer, but Master Masao Akiya fell seriously ill and was forced to take a long period of recuperation.
Despite such difficult circumstances, we insisted on him creating these for us, and he somehow managed to complete them.
When we finally saw the long-awaited pieces, they were lined up in a display that exceeded all our expectations, and we were filled with gratitude toward Master Masao Akiya.
The refreshing Oribe glaze and sharp design make these pieces a joy just to look at.
