Kazuhiro Mori's Mukozuke

We hope you are all staying well during these continuing days of intense heat. Thank you very much for your wonderful support of our "Kazuhiro Mori Special Feature," which has been ongoing since last month. We would like to share a delightful email we received from a customer who purchased an Akebi (chocolate vine) mukozuke dish at our shop. Because it is a vessel with a unique shape, it might be difficult at first to imagine how to use it, but we are very pleased to hear from the customer that they use it for a wide variety of dishes, such as sashimi and vinegared salads.

They mentioned that they look forward to plating sashimi bought at their local fishmonger at home. Thinking that the artist, Mr. Kazuhiro, would surely be delighted, I printed out the photos and took them to him. It was memorable to see the usually stoic Mr. Kazuhiro wearing such a beaming smile. It must be a moment that makes all the effort as a ceramic artist worthwhile.

Many of Mr. Kazuhiro's vessels are highly original; this small bowl with its novel polyhedral design is a piece that was purchased previously.

Although it has a whimsical design, it seems this is also being used for side dishes like vinegared salads. Depending on how you use them, they can transition from Japanese to Western styles—you can enjoy them freely according to your own ideas.

Mr. Kazuhiro's works will be on display at our shop until the 15th of this month. We hope you will stop by during your summer vacation and take the opportunity to see them in person.
