Happy New Year to everyone!
Thank you very much for visiting our website and this blog throughout the past year.
Looking back, I truly feel that last year was a wonderful and fulfilling one, as I encountered many different works and a variety of people.
I was reminded once again that both works and human encounters are once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Thinking about it again, I realize just how many different kinds of people there are.
Some were filled with the joy of pottery, deeply respecting old Bizen ware and the earth itself.
Some were proud, solitary figures challenging themselves to explore worlds of profound expression within their own isolated spiritual realms.
Some were beginning to shift their focus from their given positions toward nurturing, protecting, and giving back to others.
Some were still lost, yet pure and trembling with the sheer joy of creating.
Some knew no limits, overflowing with a strength that kept growing and growing.
I have met so many others, and I am certain that there are more wonderful encounters to come.
These people differ in age, position, and principles; they are all completely unique.
If we were to bare our hearts, we might find ourselves overflowing with non-negotiable beliefs that could lead to arguments.
However, I believe none of them are wrong; they are all answers filled with a brilliant radiance.
This is because when I talk to these people, a light is ignited in my own heart.
Simply put, after talking to them, I think to myself, "Alright! I'll do my best, too."
Artists truly are irrepressibly energetic people.
Perhaps that power is unconsciously transmitted to me during our conversations.
That is precisely why I hold these "encounters" so very dear.
We in the pottery business could be said to have a job that helps facilitate encounters with works of art.
Having reaffirmed the beauty, comfort, and necessity of such encounters, I hope to bring even more wonderful connections to all of you this year.
This has become a rather rambling message, but please accept this as my New Year's greeting.
