Original lid rest

Hello everyone.
It has been getting warmer recently, and we can feel the signs of spring.
However, perhaps due to global warming, we only saw snow pile up once here in Okayama this year.
It is a bit lonely not being able to see a snowy landscape in winter.
Kawaguchi Togakuen is also promoting efforts to prevent global warming.
Now, today's photo is of an original lid rest requested by a customer.
They asked me if I had any "interesting lid rests,"
but in fact, our younger artists haven't been making them lately.
After thinking about what to do, this is what I came up with.
I call it "original," but I actually borrowed a mini sagger used for *kabuse-yaki* (covering) of sake bottles that Mr. Morimoto had.
I simply used a screwdriver to drill a hole in the mini sagger, and that was it.
*Kabuse-yaki* is a technique where a cover is placed over the shoulder of a sake bottle to create variations in the firing finish,
so it has a generous amount of *goma* (ash glaze) on it, making for quite a beautiful appearance.
Even kiln tools or shards of broken pieces can find new life with a little creativity,
so if you have any broken items, why not try experimenting with them?
Well, I hope the customer will be happy with this lid rest...
