Hello everyone, how are you doing?
The hohin (teapot) in the image is a piece from a customer's collection by Irie Koji.
It seems that Irie-sensei's craftsmanship is being re-evaluated recently,
gaining popularity not only in Japan but also overseas.
This is a rare "Shinju Bizen" (Pearl Bizen) piece, with a soft pink clay texture that shines brilliantly like a gemstone.
Beyond the firing technique that achieves such captivating colors,
one cannot help but be amazed by the meticulous work characteristic of Irie-sensei, who has dedicated his life to creating hand-coiled hohin.
Enjoying tea from a piece infused with the maker's passion must be an incredibly luxurious experience.

The entire surface has a glowing pink hue.

Different types of clay are used for the peach, leaves, and the main body to create varying colors.
Since the optimal firing temperature differs for each clay, the utmost care is taken during the kiln firing process.
