金重陶陽先生の三猿蓋置が入荷しました

We have received a "Three Monkeys" lid rest by Toyo Kaneshige.

Hello everyone, how are you all doing? It feels like the mornings and evenings are becoming slightly cooler. Today, I would like to introduce the "Three Monkeys" lid rest (futaoki) by Toyo Kaneshige that has just arrived. The clay has a slightly whitish hue, which helps recreate the texture of monkey fur. Among the elaborate works that represent the early period of Toyo Kaneshige, these three monkeys are highly popular for their playful charm, and they look truly adorable in close-up. Featuring the "Three Wise Monkeys" motif—see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil—the piece captures a delightful, whimsical quality that makes you want to keep holding it in your palm. It is a masterwork to depict such expressive monkey faces on a piece no larger than the tip of a pinky finger. This is the early "Do" (earth) potter's mark used by Toyo Kaneshige. The fur is also finely carved. The early Showa period, when such works were created, was a time of decline for Bizen ware, and with the war, it is likely that many pieces were lost or broken. It is no exaggeration to say that its survival after 80 years is, in a sense, a miracle.   (Toyo Kaneshige / Bizen Three Monkeys Lid Rest, with original box)  size: diameter 4.9cm x diameter 4.6cm x height 4.3cm price: Sold Please contact us below for detailed images or other inquiries.   Tel 0869-67-2210 Fax 0869-67-2220 Email to Kawaguchi Tourakuen (Clicking this will open your email client) Visit the Kawaguchi Tourakuen Website
