Description

This is a Bizen coffee set by Yoshiteru Koriki, a popular young artist who was an apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. This piece successfully captures the charm of Koriki's signature sincere approach to craftsmanship. While not eccentric, the work is honest, easy to use, and universally appealing. The firing features gentle chocolate-colored surfaces softly enveloped in yellow sesame glaze (kigo-ma). The saucer displays not only sesame glaze but also fire-cord markings (hidasuki), offering a variety of expressions despite its simple design.

About gift packaging

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who loved pottery, he pursued a career in ceramics. After graduating from high school, he studied pottery techniques under the father-son duo of Sozan and Yuho Kaneshige starting in 1989. After seven years of training, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 to strike out on his own, and successfully fired his first kiln the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has continued to hold solo exhibitions every year since. In 1999, he was selected for the "Northern Confectionery Vessels I'd Like to Use" exhibition, and in 2002, he was selected for the "Chano-yu Form" exhibition for the first time.
