Description
This is a Bizen sake cup by Living National Treasure Toshu Yamamoto, an artist known for his incomparable, god-like technical mastery and for creating numerous masterpieces. The artist's seal indicates that this is a work from his later years. As a master of the potter's wheel, Toshu's brilliant technique shines through in the flawless, dignified form, extending from the rim down to the base. The firing is exceptionally refined, featuring a golden-hued clay surface dusted with fine black sesame glaze, resulting in a sake cup with a calm and sophisticated aesthetic.
Original signed wooden box (shiho-zan style)
Diameter 6.6cm × Diameter 6.6cm × Height 5.3cm

He was designated a Living National Treasure (Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property) in 1987. In 1992, he held the exhibition "Journey of the Six Ancient Kilns: Living National Treasure Toshu Yamamoto Exhibition."
