Description

This Bizen teapot is the work of Yukio Tomori, who began his pottery journey in Okinawa and later studied under Taisetsu Sueishi in Bizen. With a unique design characteristic of Tomori and a bright finish achieved through wood-firing in an anagama kiln, this is a truly stylish teapot. Its charming and endearing form is captivating, making the act of drinking tea even more enjoyable. It is well-regarded for the way Bizen ware’s natural far-infrared radiation makes tea taste significantly better. A Bizen teapot, which grows more endearing the longer it is used, makes a perfect wedding gift.

About gift wrapping

Yukio Tomori was born on Miyako Island in Okinawa Prefecture. He aspired to pursue a career in pottery after encountering wood-fired stoneware in Okinawa during his high school years. He trained at the Tsunami-yama Pottery in Okinawa starting in 1984. Later, while traveling to various pottery regions, he discovered Bizen ware and was deeply moved, leading him to study under Taisetsu Sueishi for four years beginning in 1987. He built his own anagama kiln in 1999 and became an independent potter after his first firing. Since his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2001, he has held exhibitions in various locations, including Fukushima, Chiba, Osaka, Ehime, and Miyako Island.
