Description
This new sake bottle (tokkuri) is by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who carries on the tradition of his father, Makoto Nakamura, and grandfather, Rokuro Nakamura—masters of sake vessels—to create works of profound character. This piece has been expertly adjusted to ensure it is not over-fired, while its surface has been thoroughly seasoned with smoke through the *suana* (air hole) firing technique. The smooth, tactile quality of the surface combined with the beautiful, earthy appeal of the *nuke* (areas protected from direct ash) means that if you rub sake droplets into the surface as you use it, it will develop a truly exceptional patina. This work is packed with the elements that make Bizen ware so appealing, inviting you to use it and nurture it over time.
