Description
This is a Bizen small plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who is constantly evolving in his approach to clay, firing, and craftsmanship. The mountain clay has been slowly fired, creating a match between the raw, rugged presence of the earth itself and the bright, crisp, and refreshing flavor of the *goma* (ash glaze). The rich, thoroughly fired yellow *goma*, reminiscent of the jars seen in antique Bizen ware, is a delight to behold and will beautifully highlight the colors of the food served upon it. The reverse side features a rich, earthy texture with a subdued purple as its base tone.
Original signed wooden box (with two-sided battened lid)
Diameter 16.2cm x Diameter 15.9cm x Height 2.9cm
