Description

This Bizen sake cup is the work of Shin Nakamura, a renowned artisan of sake and tableware and the eldest son of the late master Rokuro Nakamura, a legendary Bizen potter. The piece features a magnificent landscape of moss-green *kase-goma* (dry sesame glaze) combined with charred yellow *goma*. The scarlet hue, which seems to soak into the very core of the clay, is deeply evocative, resulting in a piece that exemplifies the joy of use characteristic of Shin Nakamura's work. The undulating rim is a true testament to the artisan's skill. *Acquired from a collector who is a great admirer of the Nakamura family. Shows slight signs of use and has a slightly smoother texture.* Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Diameter 7.5cm × Diameter 7.3cm × Height 5.3cm Born as the eldest son of Rokuro Nakamura, Shin Nakamura began learning the foundations and honing his technical skills under his father in 1971. Additionally, to master the firing techniques of Living National Treasure Toyo Kaneshige, he spent ten years assisting with kiln firings under the guidance of Michiaki Kaneshige. He became independent in 1975. He focuses on tea ceramics and tableware, while also creating vases, sake bottles, and sake cups. He holds active solo exhibitions across Japan, including in Tokyo, Okayama, and Nagoya.
