Description
This is a latest Bizen sake cup by Junpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige lineage. The piece features a "kase-yōhen" firing effect, which is frequently chosen for water jars and tea utensils. Because it was fired slowly at a relatively low temperature, the soft "kase-goma" (matte sesame glaze), the dark scorched sesame markings, and the oozing reddish clay body exist in perfect harmony. This gentle, low-temperature firing leaves a softness and freshness in the work, which, combined with the two types of clay used by the Kaneshige family, guarantees a beautiful evolution in texture through continued use.
