Description
This is a brand new Bizen sake cup, fresh from the kiln by Masao Akitani, an artist who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with unique originality within a new spirit. The piece features a fresh, hollowed-out form characteristic of Akitani-sensei, who develops his spur-of-the-moment inspirations and projects them into his work. The interior has been finished by scraping out the clay and then burnishing it, lending even this hollowed-out piece a thin, fresh impression. The egg-shaped silhouette is etched with the deeply flavorful kiln transformation (yohen) of an anagama wood-fired kiln.
