Description
This is a brand-new black sake cup, freshly out of the kiln by Masao Akiya, who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with unique originality within a new spirit. The piece features an oval shape reminiscent of a melon, carved with line patterns that evoke the image of wind brushing through ears of rice. The distinctive black hue, which immediately identifies it as part of the Isezaki school, suits this innovative form perfectly. The generous application of yellow sesame glaze (kigo) appears like golden snow against the black landscape.
