Description

This is a new Hidasuki sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and craftsmanship. The exquisite coloration of the fire-cord (Hidasuki) paired with the depth of the mugwort-colored Kannon clay creates a premium quality truly worthy of a solo exhibition. While the rich, deeply shaded Hidasuki is exceptional in its own right, the true highlight is the base texture; it is beautifully fired to a golden brown while retaining the authentic, earthy character of the clay. This is an exquisite piece that perfectly captures the "freshness" that Morimoto strives so hard to achieve. Furthermore, the inclusion of small pebbles (ishihaze) within the intense Hidasuki adds a delightful accent, making every inch of the piece a scenic landscape. Signed wooden box (shiho-zan) included.
Diameter 6.1cm × Diameter 5.9cm × Height 6.2cm Yoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976. He completed his studies at the Bizen Pottery Center in 1996. After working independently, he held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2004. Since then, he has held solo exhibitions annually, primarily in Tokyo and across the country. He was selected for the Tanabe Museum of Art’s "Chanoyu Molding Exhibition" in 2005, 2006, and 2007. In 2008, he exhibited at the "Contemporary Sake Cup Artists Exhibition" at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, Tokyo, and in 2009, he exhibited at the "Contemporary Tea Bowl Artists Exhibition" at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, Tokyo. He continues to hold solo exhibitions throughout the country, including a feature exhibition at Tenmaya in Okayama in 2010.
