Description

This is a new Hidasuki sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superb aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and craftsmanship. The exquisite coloration of the Hidasuki, combined with the nuances of the moxa-colored Kannon clay, results in a premium-quality piece worthy of a solo exhibition. While the rich and deeply nuanced Hidasuki is exceptional, the base is truly remarkable; it is perfectly fired while retaining the distinctive texture characteristic of earthenwares. I believe this is a supreme piece that beautifully captures the "freshness" that Morimoto-sensei strives to achieve. Furthermore, the *ishihaze* (stone explosions) against the rich Hidasuki act as a delightful accent, creating a landscape that covers the entire surface of the vessel.
