Description

This is a freshly kiln-fired black sake cup by Masao Akitani, an artist who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with his own unique originality within a new spirit. The distinctive cylindrical form is a piece that is strongly conscious of design and sculptural beauty, as well as functional elegance. The work is adorned with the black of applied slip and intense sesame ash glaze, with the particularly powerful yellow sesame ash appearing as if it is about to cover the entire surface of the vessel along with the slip. From this collection, the rim has been newly designed with a stepped edge, a testament to Master Akitani’s relentless creative drive. Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipping)
