Description
This Bizen beer mug is the work of Masao Akitaya, who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works full of unique originality while embracing a fresh spirit. It is a *shinogi*-style piece that catches the eye with its innovative use of a spatula. The piece was first thrown into a thick cylindrical shape on a potter's wheel, then carved from a 7:3 ratio into a ridged form to create a sense of movement. His meticulous craftsmanship and high level of skill ensure a perfect balance between appearance and ease of use. The generous application of *goma* (ash glaze) is proof that the entire piece has been fired thoroughly. We provide complimentary *noshi* (gift wrapping paper) and message cards, so please do not hesitate to ask.
*The white areas on the inside are the texture of the clay in the foreground and a stone inclusion (*ishihaze*) in the back. Signed wooden box (double-slat lid)
Diameter 8.1cm x Diameter 8.1cm x Height 11.4cm
