Hidasuki Teacup

This is a new *hi-dasuki* (fire-cord) teacup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who constantly evolves in his mastery of clay, firing, and form. By thoroughly refining his approach to the clay, kiln firing, and shaping, he has perfected a *hi-dasuki* pattern overflowing with a vitality that rivals that of ancient Bizen ware. The rich *hi-dasuki* sensitively captures subtle temperature differences, manifesting as vermilion bands draped across the body, while also appearing like a reddish-brown veil wrapped around the base like a loincloth. The white clay exposed from beneath these *hi-dasuki* "dresses" has a deep, savory *mogusa* (mugwort) color that has kiln-transformed into a pale azuki-bean hue in places, creating an indescribably charming effect. The rich *hi-dasuki* and well-fired surface possess an elegance that seems almost fragrant, likely elevating the aroma of the tea itself. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Diameter 9.3cm × 8.7cm × Height 9.8cm
