Description

This Hidasuki tea bowl is by Tomio Ochi, who diligently fired kilns under the guidance of Anjin Abe, pouring his lingering aspirations into his pottery. This Hidasuki tea bowl was fired in a kiln designed with special refractory bricks until the Seger cone collapsed, a result of his persistent efforts to satisfy his vision for the transformation of the clay particles. When flicked with a finger, it resonates with a high-pitched sound reminiscent of porcelain or glass. The thick, rich Hidasuki will surely pair exquisitely with the vibrant green of matcha. The intensely fired Hidasuki produces a luster that clearly highlights the flow of the clay created by the subtle manipulation of the potter's wheel. Despite its exceptionally high quality, it is offered at an affordable price, making it an ideal piece for those beginning their journey into the tea ceremony.
