Description
This Bizen flower vase is the work of Kazuki Nakamura, whose art draws from the lineage of master sake-ware artisans Rokuro Nakamura and Shin Nakamura, resulting in pieces of profound character. The kiln transformation (yohen) is so magnificent that it tempts one to repurpose it as a sake vessel. The matte, kiln-transformed surface, which captures the flow of smoke and fire in its patterns, embodies a rustic beauty unique to earthenware. It was fired in a location within the kiln where the temperature remained relatively low and smoke passed freely, leaving the clay with a sense of vibrant freshness.
