Description
This Bizen sake cup is by Kazuki Nakamura, a creator of deeply tasteful works who follows in the lineage of the master sake vessel craftsmen Rokuro Nakamura and Shin Nakamura. It is a piece that features a truly exquisite kiln transformation, with a thick, well-melted "goma" (sesame) glaze and a faintly shimmering, raised "haikaburi" (ash-covered) glaze. The foot, in particular, has a lustrous, mouse-gray kiln transformation often referred to as "namako-hada" (sea cucumber skin), providing a delightful view after finishing your drink. The piece also retains a soft, earthen quality with deep, tasteful "nuke" (unfired patches), a wonderful touch from the gods of the kiln. (*Please note that there is a slight adhesion, which occurred due to the intense kiln transformation.)
Signed wooden box (lid with two cross-pieces)
