Description

This Bizen flower vase is by Kazuki Nakamura, a master craftsman who carries on the tradition of creating deeply evocative works, following in the footsteps of his father, Shin Nakamura, and his grandfather, Rokuro Nakamura. The flickering flames are captured in the piece as if they were a photographic image. The soft, scarlet-colored texture of the clay takes on a truly elegant quality when lightly moistened for use. Bizen flower vases have long been renowned for their ability to keep water from spoiling, and seeing the vibrant coloration of this clay—which remains vivid even after being buried in intense flames—makes it easy to understand why. As a descendant of the earth, it will surely accentuate your flowers beautifully. Original signed wooden box (with two-way crossbar)
(Including handles) Diameter 16.7cm × Diameter 13.1cm × Height 23.2cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Shin Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to hone his pottery skills. He fired his first kiln and became an independent artist in 2006.
