Description
This Ibe sake flask (tokkuri) is the latest work by Mashiro Aiga, an artist who creates works that are uncompromisingly straightforward and possess true substance. The combination of the rich "Ibe-de" glaze and the intense "kase-goma" (crusty ash glaze) that symbolizes Mashiro Aiga’s style is nothing short of masterful. Using the same coil-building technique as in old Bizen ware, the coarse clay is built up slowly to create a silhouette with a relaxed yet powerful rhythm. Furthermore, the slight, characterful irregularity and the way the neck tilts give it a certain charm.
