Description

This Bizen sake cup is by Kosei Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of diligent training as a pupil of Jun Isezaki. It is from his Sue series, which he has said he intends to make a central part of his future work, and it features a Sue-ware style body that has transformed into gray. The texture, which appears as a blend of dark and light gray, evokes a stronger sense of the primitive aesthetic inherent to Sue-ware. The interior is dyed a solid dark gray, allowing you to enjoy an even deeper hue when filled with sake. Original wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipping)
Diameter 6.5cm × 6.5cm × Height 6.2cm Kosei Kibata was born in Imbe, Bizen City in 1974. In 2002, he began his apprenticeship under Bizen ware artist Jun Isezaki. In 2012, he built his own kiln and became independent in Shimizu, Wake Town. That same year, he received the Tabe Museum Grand Prize and the Encouragement Award at the Exhibition of Tea Ceremony Ceramics.
