Description
This is a Bizen sake cup by Shin Nakamura, the eldest son of the renowned Bizen sake ware master Rokuro Nakamura, himself highly acclaimed for his sake ware and tableware. The cup features a primary scarlet hue that promises to develop a beautiful patina with use. The astringent, withered tone of the "kase-goma" (dry sesame glaze) resembles tree bark, creating a sophisticated contrast that enhances the rich scarlet color. Its well-proportioned size also makes it highly practical and appealing.
Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included.
Diameter 8.3cm × Diameter 8.2cm × Height 3.5cm Born as the eldest son of Rokuro Nakamura, Shin Nakamura began learning the fundamentals and honing his skills under his father in 1971. He became independent in 1975. He primarily creates tea ceremony ceramics and tableware, as well as flower vases, sake bottles, and sake cups. He actively holds solo exhibitions across Japan, including in Tokyo, Okayama, and Nagoya.
