Description

This is a new Bizen gourd-shaped sake bottle by Makoto Nakamura, a renowned master of sake ware and tableware and the eldest son of the late Rokuro Nakamura, a legendary Bizen potter. It is a well-fired piece, distinguished by the captivating black and silver kiln changes created by molten ash. The faint, colorful "nuke" (uncovered area) in the center is also charming, and while the piece is fired to a high degree, it promises to develop a beautiful patina through use. The slightly tilted neck adds a sense of elegance, making it an excellent choice as a single-flower vase. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Rim 2.7cm × Body diameter 10.3cm × Body diameter 10.1cm × Height 12.8cm Capacity approx. 320ml Born as the eldest son of Rokuro Nakamura, Makoto Nakamura began learning the fundamentals under his father in 1971, diligently honing his techniques. To further master the firing style of the late Living National Treasure Toyo Kaneshige, he spent ten years assisting with and receiving guidance from Michiaki Kaneshige during kiln firings. He became independent in 1975. He creates a wide range of works, focusing on tea ceramics and tableware, as well as flower vases, sake bottles, and sake cups. He actively holds solo exhibitions across Japan, including in Tokyo, Okayama, and Nagoya.
