Description

This Hidasuki tea cup is the work of Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery as the son of the late Sosu Kaneshige. Inheriting a reputation for the beauty of his Hidasuki from his father, this piece features the slightly coarse clay texture characteristic of Sosu, accented by Hidasuki with subdued color tones. The scarlet Hidasuki, a shade close to a deep, dark orange, is rich and viscous, creating a beautiful landscape from every angle. The slightly tapered mouth and the gracefully swelling body showcase a sense of form that rivals that of a veteran, despite the artist's relative youth. Signed wooden box (double-slat lid)
Diameter 7.8cm × Diameter 7.9cm × Height 8.5cm Tamon Kaneshige was born in Okayama City in 1977. He graduated from the Faculty of Business and Commerce at Keio University in 2000. In 2004, he entered the world of pottery under his father, Sosu Kaneshige. He held a solo exhibition at Tenmaya Okayama in 2011.
