Description

This is a new Bizen sake server by Makoto Nakamura, the eldest son of the renowned Bizen sake vessel master Rokuro Nakamura, and a celebrated artist in his own right for his sake and tableware. The piece exudes the gentle, embracing quality characteristic of earthenware, featuring a dynamic form that looks as though the clay itself has come to life and begun to dance. It displays a beautiful "hi-iro" (scarlet) flame color, promising the same excellent functionality as his sake bottles and will surely age beautifully with continued use. Its unique shape inspires a variety of uses, such as a vase or a serving vessel, and we hope you will enjoy finding your own creative way to incorporate it into your lifestyle. Signed wooden box (double-slat lid)
Diameter 17.9cm (including spout) x Diameter 12.6cm x Height 7.3cm Makoto Nakamura was born as the eldest son of Rokuro Nakamura. He became independent in 1975. He focuses on tea ceremony ceramics and tableware, while also creating flower vases, sake bottles, and sake cups. He holds active solo exhibitions across Japan, including in Tokyo, Okayama, and Nagoya.
